paper collage - as a way of working and thinking - is what interests me - the idea of turning trash into something beautiful, and the process of ripping, tearing, gluing, layering and creating new meaning out of things that already carry their own meaning - smashing together photos, ideas, and ways of thinking. I am a "creative researcher" interested the arts as a form of activism and as a way of learning.
I'm interested in the dualism between surplus (of goods, ways of thinking, waste) and extinction, and its implications beyond an environmental viewpoint. Currently very interested in Human geography - reading Lure of the Local by Lucy Lippard and Sense of Place Sense of Time by JB Jackson - questioning how a deeper, place based relationship to the environment is necessary to develop as the foundation for environmental behavior change.
